What is needed at the home & and viewing locations

The TV2Me® Personal Video Server needs to be located in the city/country (or within the satellite footprint) you want to move. The Server requires an Internet connection with an UPstream speed of 512 kb/s or higher. (768 kb/s is recommended to allow headroom for growth; 1.2 mb/s is required for broadcast-quality 640x480 resolution. Modified systems are available if minimum speeds are not available in your area.)

The "target" (receiving location) can be anywhere on earth -- anywhere there's wired or wireless broadband. You can use virtually any PC running Windows, Mac, Linux - even Solaris. TV2Me® software program is installed on the viewing computer also makes viewing simple, so no attention need be paid to tedious port forwarding. TV2Me's video output can be connected to an external PAL or NTSC large-screen monitor or modulator with TV2Me's scan converter option.

TV2Me® was designed, as much as possible, to work like any Plain Old Television Set. If your receiving PC has a Video output, enjoy TV2Me® on a standard TV monitor. (If not, a scan converter (option) lets you view on any TV.) Share the same connection between TV2Me® and other Internet activities and devices. TV2Me® uses mainly upstream bandwidth. Most Internet user activities require downstream capacity. This asymmetry makes TV2Me® use almost invisible to other uses of your local network.

There are no monthy service fees to use TV2Me

TV2Me® simply relays a private line between an "originating location" and a "target location." The TV2Me®. Any ongoing fees are only those you already pay for your cable or satellite programming and your Internet connection.

There are other ways in which TV2Me can be used

It may be your favorite show, but when you're 11 time zones from home, you may not want to watch every show as it's broadcast at home. With TV2Me's included TiVo®/DVR control, you can shift both time and Space, and watch your favorite shows when convenient. With Streamzap® (included), you never need to see a receiving computer. You can control the distant TV2Me server sitting on the couch or laying in bed.

TV2Me® servers can also be used to transmit your home videos to a distant viewer, or connect to video cameras to provide exceptionally high-quality monitoring of homes, nurseries, and utility facilities. Optional remote source switching allows remote switching of the server's input between multiple cable and satellite boxes, cameras, DVD players, etc.

If connected to a wireless router, TV2Me® makes local cable or satellite programs wireless, viewable on any Wi-Fi-equipped PC or Mac at the originating location. Because the TV2Me® server can encode multiple video streams, at different speeds, via Ethernet, Intranet or Wi-Fi, higher encoding speeds than possible on the Internet can produce up to a DVD-quality picture.
